02 / EXPERIMENTAL SIDELOAD⌘

Early access.
More automation.

A separate build for exploring automatic SMS monitoring and opt-in AI-approved replies. You grant SMS permissions and can pause automation at any time.

  • SMS monitoring (with permission)
  • Preview-only mode by default
  • Optional automated SMS replies
  • Reply limits and encrypted local history

Signed APKs appear as GitHub prereleases. They are experimental; check the release notes before installing.

Important: Automatic text monitoring and sending are not part of the Play edition. The sideload edition requires Android SMS permissions, and its experimental behavior should be tested cautiously. Never enter your provider API key into a website; enter it only inside the installed app.
Getting started

Before you install

  1. Choose the right edition. The sideload build can access incoming SMS after you explicitly enable it; the Play edition cannot.
  2. Use a TypeSafe AI key for now. The current editions use TypeSafe System One (jev-latest), with your key encrypted locally; the model is not configurable. Optional Google account login is available; managed subscription keys are planned, not live.
  3. Start with a preview. Review the app's behavior before enabling any sideload automation.
  4. Stay in control. The Play edition uses manual SMS composition. Sideload supports preview mode, separate opt-in to automatic sending, and a one-tap Pause control.

TextSentry supports Android 8.0 and later. Neither current edition is a complete default messaging app.

Three categories are checked by default: vote reminders, political campaigns and marketing ads. You can add restrictions and adjust the 50–100% confidence threshold. Jev can classify a match even without an explicit unsubscribe instruction in the incoming SMS. STOP is the only automated response; it is not guaranteed that every sender will honor it. Original SMS inbox deletion is not available.

For source code, tagged prereleases if available, and detailed build instructions, see the TextSentry Android repository.
